About This Cause

Arihanta Institute is a new first-of-a-kind educational institution where audiences from around the world can learn about the philosophy based on the principles of non-violence, peace, compassion and how they are applied in order to live an ethical lifestyle in our complex world. The world is facing complex issues, like animal treatment, climate change, wars, conflicts, mental health challenges, social justice issues, and so on, each needing urgent attention. The non-violence-based philosophy has dealt with these issues for millennia by creating awareness of the issues and the threats they present, while also illuminating pragmatic remedies – practices and lifestyle blueprints for harmonious living. Arihanta Institute serves as a platform to bring these solutions inspired to the world to deal with today’s issues. Our mission is to democratize such studies with global access and affordability. We are building a preeminent value-based educational institution for deeper learning of the philosphy, its principles, and their engagement in daily life with a faculty of renowned scholars and researchers dedicated to non-violence studies. Our students come to us from all parts of the globe with a shared interest in learning about the Jain tradition and allied fields of inquiry. We envision academic innovation as teaching the non-violence philosophical and ethical principles in the context of everyday, real-life challenges with experience-based learning that includes insightful lifestyle applications combined with data-backed, scientific findings. We engage new academic fields in dialogue with other similar philosophies into new and unchartered territory. We focus on six learning areas that are most relevant to today’s challenges: (1) Animal Advocacy and Biodiversity, (2) Climate Change and Environment, (3) Yoga, Self-care and Spirituality, (4) Professional Ethics, (5) Social Justice, and (6) Jain Philosophy, History and Anthropology, Our teachings are in two categories: (1) Courses about lifestyle benefits in a self-paced mode for casual learners, (2) University style courses for those seeking deeper studies and interested in earning graduate degrees. Currently, we have a distinguished faculty of 2 full-time professors, 5 adjunct professors and 8 subject-area experts, and we plan to expand our faculty as needed. Arihanta Institute was founded in April 2021 by Parveen Jain, PhD along with Pramod Patel, Professor Christopher Jain Miller and Dhanesh Kothari as co-founders.
