Mission Statement
SAAVA’s mission is to provide a forum for home school students and adult community members who wish to express, harness and/or refine their musical talent in a creative, fun, and friendly environment while improving music knowledge, artistry and self-confidence through concert, collaboration, and competition.
About This Cause
Our organization focuses primarily on home school students who may be disadvantaged economically or by virtue of not having access to the same resources that public education students are offered. We provide a choir practice facility where students come together from ages 6 through 18 and are separated into 3 learning groups: 1.) Interlude, 2.) Encore, and 3.) Academy. Students’ training is level focused with an objective of advancing them through the groups up to Academy. We have begun enrolling both Encore and Academy in ensemble and solo competitions to provide them with growth opportunities that may help them as they move into higher education. SAAVA was founded by Matthew Stephens in 2017 with only 19 students. Today, we house more than 180 students combined. Our organization’s goals include helping students develop self-confidence along with organizational, communication, and leadership skills. We have recently added a fourth group of students from the community who are adults over the age of 18. This broader spectrum of students, not only in age, but in ethnicities and gender allow for formation of community. Our performance schedule aside from the solo and ensemble competitions, include a Spring and Winter performance annually. All four choirs perform individually but we also have the Academy and Community choirs perform together for two music pieces. We then have all choirs come together for a finale performance during each performance. The concerts have begun to attract a larger and larger audience every year. In December 2023, we had a sellout performance with full capacity sellout of 600 audience members. We are growing exponentially but are constrained with limited resources. Although growth is desirable, it has become financially unmanageable. This is where we wish to align with organizations who’s philanthropic mission may align with SAAVA’s mission and vision.
