Mission Statement

Giving Back for Batya (GBB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief for the homeless population in Seattle by providing food, supplies, or any resources they might need. We aim to work closely with the people we are trying to support in order to help them in a way that best works for them. At GBB, we are driven by our belief that every human deserves to be treated with kindness and respect and strive to help people in a way that allows them maintain their dignity.

About This Cause

We are always looking for ways to expand what we do and to continue fulfilling our mission. Currently, our main program is bringing a “store” to homeless encampments or public places with a large homeless population. We provide anyone who needs them with shopping bags or backpacks and allow people to take what they need from our assembly line of food, personal hygiene items, sanitary items, emergency blankets, refillable water bottles, and much more. We have also started collecting old phones, tablets and computers as donations to provide a library-type service where we are setting up shop. They will have an internet connection so people can use them in whatever way they’d like or need. Whether they are bored and want to watch something on YouTube or need to fill out job applications. We will have people available to help if there are any technical issues or if they need help with any sort of applications. We also hope to launch a program where we can help people apply for food stamps and unemployment if they are relevant. Lastly, we encourage all of our volunteers to always offer food or necessities to anyone who looks like they are in need. If they are walking in a city and see someone in need, we encourage them to buy something, such as food, water, personal care goods, and we refund them. This way, in our daily lives we are helping people and spreading kindness.
