About This Cause

The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit social enterprise providing employment opportunities, skills training, and support services to people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities. We have served people who are blind in the Seattle community since 1918, and we have a long and innovative history of adapting technology to create opportunities and remove barriers for people with visual impairment. Through employment opportunities and support services, we are a catalyst for empowerment. We foster self-confidence and instill a life-changing affirmation that independence is possible. We strive to ignite a fire of determination in each person we reach that is centered on the reality that vision loss does not define who you are or how you choose to live. Our goal is to empower everyone, regardless of ability status, with the skills, resources, and confidence to build a fulfilling and prosperous future for themselves. Our Mission We empower people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities through sustainable employment and transformative services for independence and career advancement.
