About This Cause

Evergreen Goodwill utilizes a unique enterprise model through which it operates 24 retail stores and 9 Job Training and Education (JTE) Centers in five counties. Last year, the organization served over 2,700 students in King, Kitsap, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties with the following Job Training and Education services: Adult Basic Education: This program includes English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL); computer literacy; basic skills; and other classes, such as cashiering, customer service, job search, and citizenship test preparation. Retail & Customer Service Training: This program offers classroom work and on the job training to prepare students for careers in the retail and customer service sector. Career Pathways: This program assists students in enrolling in and navigating the community college system. The Year-Round Youth Program: This program helps at-risk youth in King and Snohomish Counties build the skills needed to navigate life's challenges through an intensive focus on employment skills training, educational and career goal setting, and service learning opportunities. Support Services: All training locations have Case Managers to help students address basic needs that may keep them from successful program completion or job retention. The training locations also have Employment Specialists who assist students in all aspects of their job search process. Over the last 90 years, Goodwill has used a socially, economically and ecologically responsible business model to help thousands of individuals gain the skills and education necessary to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. Last year alone, we provided services to over 2,700 individuals, helping them to gain the skills, education and training they need to succeed at work and in life. Because jobs change lives! Funding supports Goodwill students in free job training and education programs and support services. These students are often considered the "hardest to serve" because of exceptionally high need levels due to factors, often in combination, of poverty, lack of education, lack of English skills, domestic abuse, homelessness and more. Despite these barriers, Goodwill students want to learn; they want to work. Your support helps them gain access to skills and training leading to jobs and independence.
