Mission Statement
We partner with youth and families to provide the relationships, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success.
About This Cause
Founded in 1951, Friends of Youth has since expanded our services to provide safe places and support for marginalized young people facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness, foster care, and behavioral health challenges. We provide the tools necessary to move disenfranchised young people from crisis and instability to safety, stability, and success. With 70 years’ experience and national accreditation, we annually serve over 3,200 youth and families ages 0-25 in the Puget Sound region at 24 program sites in 18 cities. We support vulnerable, diverse, and marginalized communities, including youth of color, LGBTQ+ youth, refugee and undocumented immigrant youth, teen mothers, and homeless youth. We believe that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, and our services are designed to fulfill that vision in three core areas. • Youth and Family Services: Friends of Youth provides counseling, home visits, prevention services, and parenting programs for youth and families in the Issaquah, Snoqualmie Valley, and Riverview School District communities. • Homeless Youth Services: Friends of Youth offers a continuum of critical services for homeless youth and young adults, including street outreach, drop-in services, case management, emergency overnight shelters, housing, education, and employment support. • Child Welfare Services: Friends of Youth offers foster care, extended foster care, emergency shelter and residential treatment services to youth and young adults.
