About This Cause
Everyone is welcome here in the name of Jesus Christ, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, religion, or lack of religion. We are an unconventional congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in which Christ is tearing down barriers and mixing things up. Jesus welcomes each person exactly as she or he is and we try to do the same. At the corner of N. 40th Street and Meridian Avenue North in Seattle, Christ is bringing and holding together people from different social classes: haves and have nots, privileged and non-privileged, homeless and homed. It is common for privileged Christians to engage with non-privileged persons in an attempt to “help” or “serve” them. We contrast that because our GOAL is not to “fix and help” but to simply live together in genuine, albeit messy, community, investing our whole selves in lifting up Christ for our neighbors, inviting them more deeply into the life of God. Grace Feast Community Meal: Each Sunday we host a delicious home-cooked meal. Its purpose is to gather together a wide spectrum of folks to enjoy a meal, create positive relationships, and cultivate community together: the religious and the nonreligious, haves and have nots, young and old, gay and straight left wing and right wing, serving each other and being served. SHARE shelter: SHARE's 11 Indoor Shelters are Seattle's most empowered, sober, cost effective and loving shelters in Seattle, sheltering up to 177 men and women anight. Permaculture Urban Farm The ethics that drive permaculture are: 1) Care of the Earth 2) Care of People 3) Return of surplus to Earth and people. The Gift of Grace urban farm is a real time, ongoing investment in Christ’s promise of new life by radically re-thinking urban living and doing it. The farm project dedicates us to stewarding our little parcel of land to produce food, energy and beauty in a sustainable way and inviting others to join us.
