Mission Statement
The purpose of the Seattle Folklore Society is to preserve and foster awareness and appreciation of folk and traditional arts in the Seattle area.
About This Cause
Seattle Folklore Society is an all-volunteer run non-profit organization that seeks to preserve and foster folklore and folk culture, specifically music and dance. We do so through several means: *20-30 concerts occur annually; *the weekly Emerald City Contra Dance; *a weekly song circle; *Rainy Camp, which focuses on singing; *Dare To Be Square West - a weekend festival dedicated to perpetuating and preserving oldtime square dance music and calling has been an SFS event when it has occurred in Seattle: 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2019.
