The Seattle Genealogical Society empowers individuals to discover their family histories through education, collaboration, and preservation.

About This Cause

The Society maintains a computer-equipped library of 10,000+ books, journals, and historical maps, and provides digitized local records, and subscription databases of national and international records. The library is free to members and nonmembers. SGS offers classes, courses, and seminars, and compiles and publishes research materials, to the public for researching family history. We have special interest groups for researchers working with Irish, German, Scandinavian, and Japanese genealogy, the Pacific Northwest, DNA, Family Tree Maker, and Family Search research. These are free-to-low cost for members and nonmembers. Free research coaching is available at the library. Professional genealogists are available for complex family history problems.
