About This Cause
The Washington Library Association is a leader for Washington libraries. We are a dynamic, inclusive, and diverse community that provides advocacy, professional development, and leadership opportunities while promoting intellectual freedom and innovation. The Washington Library Association (WLA) as a chapter of the American Library Association (ALA) upholds the values of intellectual freedom, the freedom to read, and freedom from censorship as protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. WLA is opposed to efforts that restrict, ban, remove, and/or censor books and other materials in an attempt to limit the freedom to read or obstruct intellectual freedom.
