Mission Statement
Deeply rooted in the Asian Pacific Islander Community, ICHS provides culturally and linguistically appropriate health and wellness services and promotes health equity for all.
About This Cause
In the more than four decades since its opening as a small, storefront clinic in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District neighborhood that primarily served the Asian Pacific Islander community, International Community Health Services (ICHS) has become an integral part of the some of the region’s most populous and vibrant communities. Since its 1973 opening, ICHS has grown to employ more than 500 people and serve nearly 31,000 patients at nine clinic locations in 2017. Health services include primary medical, vision and dental care, as well as behavioral health and pharmacy services. ICHS serves as part of the health safety net supporting the area’s neediest and most vulnerable, including immigrants, refugees, elderly and the young. ICHS’ commitment to health equity includes programs, partnerships and services that support safer neighborhoods, nutritious foods, green spaces, jobs, housing and economic opportunity. ICHS patients speak more than 50 languages. About 81% are persons of color and about 55% have limited English speaking skills and need interpretation help.
