Mission Statement

Promoting a resilient and civically-engaged community by connecting neighbors. Creating a welcoming and inclusive neighborhood through cultural and multi-generational engagement and outreach. Fostering neighborhood pride by promoting a beautiful, vibrant, and respectful community.

About This Cause

Madison Park Community Council, DBA Friends of Madison Park, was formed in June 2023, resurrecting the older community council that had gone dormant, with a new energy to bring back/create events and programs that benefit the neighborhood. We have 501c(3) status. In order to provide programs for the neighborhood, Friends seeks donations from the residents, sponsorships from the small business communities and grants. All programs, events and board positions are filled by volunteers and Friends seeks participation of new faces and experience in the community to create a structure that gives a voice with the city, brings families to fun events, appreciates and supports the business community. Details of the association can be found at https://www.friendsofmadisonpark.com. To date Friends has brought to the neighborhood a Music in the Park series (4 evenings in August), the Children's Parade and Picnic, an Art Walk in September. Scheduled for the coming months is a Halloween festival, the Warmth and Wine gathering (November, accepting donations of warm coats for Northwest Harvest), Christmas festivities, Tuesday TED Talks speaker series, Beautify Madison Park, Spring Clean and Garden Tour, Block Watch and SNAPS training. Plans are underway for a Kids Concert Series, bringing a monthly Farmer's Market to the neighborhood, a Second Chance Prom fundraiser, and forming an Alliance of Neighborhood Councils with other community councils. Preliminary research is also underway for renovating the Madison Park Beach Bathhouse and assisting the WA Pioneer Museum in its renovation. The Board of 12 members and 18 Committee Chairs meets monthly with the neighborhood and more frequently with the committees. There is no paid staff and no membership fees. Funds for events and administrative costs are presently covered by donations only.
