About This Cause
We are a global team of 5,400 humanitarians, working to address some of today’s biggest crises to create a future of possibility, where everyone can prosper. We bring a comprehensive, holistic approach to every challenge, addressing the root causes from multiple angles. Thanks to support from our extended global community, we have provided $4 billion in lifesaving assistance to meet the urgent needs of more than 270 million people for nearly 40 years. Mercy Corps has responded to almost every global disaster in the last 20 years, including major ones you likely remember -- such as the Nepal earthquake in 2015, Haiti earthquake in 2010, the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004, and more recently, Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. We’re also in places like Liberia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where we’ve helped contain the Ebola epidemic, and we’re putting our decades of experience to work to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. In each place that we work, and in each crisis we respond to, our goal is to meet to needs of the local community and address the root causes of challenges.
