With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships, and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges. About This Cause
PATH is a nonprofit organization dedicated to health equity. Health inequities are everywhere. Half of world’s population—3.9 billion people—lack access to essential health services. And each day, 15,000 children die before reaching age five. These numbers are the result of inequities in regions, countries, and communities whose needs have been ignored. PATH’s global team works with partners around the world to prepare for and respond to emerging health threats, to strengthen health systems, and to leverage science and technology for better health care. PATH is improving health for people and communities who experience disproportionate burdens of disease or who lack access to the providers, medicines, and devices that keep us healthy. Our scope is vast and highly integrated. We’ve supported every step of vaccine development. We’ve developed data systems to connect tuberculosis (TB) clinicians, health departments, and patients in India, and we’ve engineered medical devices that give Ugandans the reproductive freedom they deserve. We do this all because each step toward health equity gets us closer to a fairer, more just world. From discrete solutions to systems strengthening Advancing health equity means examining challenges and opportunities from all angles and all points of view. PATH’s team of experts know how to zoom in to design a solution—whether it’s a new diagnostic test, an innovative device, or an affordable medicine—that will have wide-reaching impact. But we know that stand-alone solutions and one-off interventions won’t make lasting impact. This is why PATH develops and scales up responsive, sustainable health systems. Through a comprehensive, people-centered, data-driven approach, PATH works at every level to strengthen health systems and give everyone a fair chance at health. This includes PATH’s new, reimagined primary health care program, which will continue driving innovation in many areas, from early childhood development to noncommunicable diseases, while also strengthening the links between them. End-to-end outbreak preparedness and response PATH helps countries build strong health systems to prevent, detect, and respond to disease outbreaks. From increasing access to medical oxygen in COVID-19 hot spots to standing up disease surveillance systems for novel threats yet to emerge, PATH has expertise in public health emergency preparedness and response.In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), PATH helped create the first national emergency operations center, from which we worked to strengthen timely data and analytics to bolster disease surveillance and response.
