Mission Statement

We bring food and hope to our neighbors...because there can be enough for everyone. Our food budget has increased as food prices have skyrocketed! Pre-pandemic, in 2019, we spent $300K on food. Now we’ve had to recently increase our annual food budget to $1M. We’ve also doubled our financial assistance budget to $400K. Bringing food and hope to our neighbors is a true community effort. Thank you for your support!

About This Cause

We currently serve about 7,500 individuals and families each month. Our new home, the first we've ever owned, is a place that brings inspiration to clients, volunteers, staff, and everyone who walks through our doors. In this space, connections and relationships are vital to connecting people to the resources they need. We are seeing 12,000 touchpoints happening each month across our programs. Together we have created an open, accessible, and friendly place—where everyone feels welcome and like they belong. How do we help? We offer programs that ensure the most vulnerable members of our community--including seniors; individuals living with disabilities, experiencing homelessness, or living on fixed-incomes; low-wage workers; and children in low-income households—can receive enough fresh, healthy, culturally appropriate foods to meet their full nutritional needs. Our cornerstone program remains our grocery store-style food bank where we offer a wide variety of healthy foods and wellness products. EVERYONE in Seattle is welcome to shop! Shoppers can choose the items that they like that meet their dietary and cultural needs. There are no barriers to service, meaning there are no income requirements to shop for food. For housebound clients, we offer our Home Delivery program. We currently deliver food to 500 households each week throughout 8 zip codes in Northwest Seattle. For children experiencing food insecurity, we provide 450 students from 20 northwest Seattle schools balanced meals to take home each week through our Weekend Food for Kids program. For a delicious hot meal, we offer the free Kindness Café, where everyone is welcome. We feed about 300-400 folks a day. Recognizing that hunger is just a symptom of larger challenges related to poverty and self-sufficiency, we also help clients in crisis access an array of stabilizing services and resources through our Community Resource Hub. Services include emergency assistance payments to prevent eviction and move people out of homelessness, assistance acquiring ID’s, free mailbox services, and connection to job training, mental health counseling, healthcare, supportive housing, and other services in the community. We offer space to many other social service agencies within our building for them to meet with clients and offer their services. Some of these: Swedish Medical, Solid Ground Housing, Washington Veterans Outreach, Molina Health, and Seattle Veterinary Outreach.
