NORTHWEST FAMILY LIFE LEARNING AND COUNSELING CENTER

SEATTLE, Washington, 98125-6454 United States

Mission Statement

Our mission is to “assist individuals and families in finding hope and healing when facing the pain of domestic violence, trafficking, trauma and related issues.”

About This Cause

We are a learning and counseling center with a network of counselors and advocates working together to provide a therapeutic setting as a way to heal. We provide services for individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. Penny’s Place's mission is to provide psychological, social and spiritual support that allows for safety, stability and good mental health for women and their children transitioning out of abusive situations. Penny’s Place provides a therapeutic transitional safe housing community in the Shoreline area of Seattle, King County, for women and their children fleeing domestic violence, trafficking, and related trauma. Our residents have diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and range from young adults to seniors, all of low socioeconomic status. We strategically maintain a small and homelike atmosphere, hosting no more than 8 women and children at one time. Our Onsite Manager lives at Penny’s Place and is available 24/7. She and her team provide a sense of safety and security, help with parenting, rebuilding daily routines, meal preparation, case management, and transportation when a guest needs to appear in court or when a near graduate is looking at permanent housing.
