Mission Statement
Centro Latino incorporated in the state of Washington in February of 1990 with its original purpose being to provide charitable services and support to low-income and minorities in the city of Tacoma and surrounding Pierce County areas. Over time we have shifted our approach to individual, family and community development, and serve roughly 3,000 Latino individuals/families each year. Our Mission is to cultivate the advancement of the Latino and Indigenous communities by providing social services and educational programming while honoring heritage and culture through the arts.
About This Cause
Major program areas include the Dolores Huerta Institute (DHI) is an advocacy based, culturally competent, civic education program that teaches the intricacies of Washington state government, lobbying, and politics. Students will come away from the program with strong advocacy and leadership skills, as well as a fundamental understanding of state government. Mi Centro’s Family Support Advocacy program is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to families and individuals of all ages, with a special focus on the vibrant and diverse Latino and Indigenous communities. Our goal is to empower these communities by providing them with the resources and tools they need to thrive. Mi Centro is proud to introduce it’s Art & Cultural Center. There are several events planned for the 2023-24 year, along with the permanent installation of art pieces Mi Centro has acquired from several local artists At the Mi Centro Navigator Program, we are committed to empowering entrepreneurs towards success, one small business at a time. We guide individuals through the journey of bringing their passion projects to life and enable them to reach their fullest potential by connecting them with the necessary resources. Our mission is to ensure that every entrepreneur has the support and tools they need to thrive and make a positive impact on their communities.
