Mission Statement
Mental Health Housing Foundation serves to assist those with mental illness in their efforts to live successfully in the community, primarily by providing decent, safe and affordable housing.
About This Cause
Mental Health Housing Foundation develops and manages permanent housing dedicated to low income people with a serious mental illness. Many of our tenants were homeless prior to becoming our tenant, others had been in and out of hospitals, and needed a stable home in order to rebuild their lives. Our housing includes condos integrated in larger projects, apartment buildings, and single family homes that are shared among a number of roommates. There is a wide range of capabilities and needs among those we serve; we strive to provide a wide range of housing that meet those needs. Rents are established on a sliding scale, which is an absolute necessity in a housing market in which average rents are double our tenants' household income. All of our tenants receive supportive services from the public mental health system, such as medication monitoring and management, practical living skills support, financial management and various day programs.
