Mission Statement

The King County Library System Foundation works to bring the life-changing power of literacy and knowledge to everyone in our communities – and especially to people in vulnerable and underserved populations. By funding library outreach, programs, and innovation, the Foundation enables local libraries to better serve and strengthen our diverse communities.

About This Cause

Literacy and knowledge can inspire and empower everyone, and serve as a great equalizer in our society. That is why the King County Library System Foundation is working to advance literacy and learning for all people in King County Washington. Donor funding makes it possible for our 50 local libraries to provide a full range of free, life-changing programs to meet the needs of our increasingly diverse communities. Our current funding priorities are to: increase youth literacy, promote STEM learning, support new arrivals and immigrants, help adults who are unemployed and financially insecure, and support people experiencing homelessness. These are all steps toward our vision of a world where knowledge allows diverse communities to prosper and grow.
