Mission Statement

We preserve and enhance Dunn Gardens as a public resource, celebrating the original 1915 Olmsted design and showcasing the evolution of garden design in the Pacific Northwest.

About This Cause

The Dunn Garden started in 1914 when Ed Dunn purchased the property. He commissioned the Olmsted Brothers in 1915 to design the gardens, but soon thereafter took a "hands on " role in maintaining the gardens. The garden is 7.5 acres and contains many heritage trees including the Magnolia Sargentii "Robusta" and Cladrastis Lutea Yellow Wood, which are unusual on the west coast. We are a public garden open six days per week all year. We serve as a community hub for mental well-being, educational programs, and open space in an ever-expanding Seattle landscape.
