About This Cause
The Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda) strives to preserve, promote, and develop the Seattle Chinatown International District (CID) as a vibrant community and unique ethnic neighborhood, respecting its cultural heritage while ensuring its sustainability. Through neighborhood revitalization projects—providing affordable housing, property management assistance, economic development efforts, and opportunities for community engagement—SCIDpda encourages building local capacity through a collaborative and holistic approach, working closely with residents and local businesses in a comprehensive community development effort that honors the SCIDpda mission and meets the community's broad range of needs. SCIDpda was formed by the community in 1975. As a community developer, our goal is to comprehensively strengthen the elements that form the backbone of a strong, healthy community while carefully balancing renewal with preservation.
