Mission Statement

Nu Black Arts West Theatre is a community-based organization promoting creativity by providing an opportunity to use the arts as a way of expression, motivation, teaching and learning. Nu Black Arts West Theatre is the oldest African American Theatre Company in the Pacific Northwest. Our Mission is to use the Arts to inspire, educate and culturally elevate our youth.

About This Cause

We serve low-income, youth and senior groups, and people of color. We are the oldest African American Theatre Company in the Pacific NW. Lead by Executive Director Kibibi Monié, for over twenty years NBAWT has been providing cultural heritage programs, stage productions, touring shows, seminars / lectures, youth programs, workshops, partnerships, fundraisers for social causes, and community outreach locally, nationally, and internationally. We promote creativity through the use of the arts as a way of expression, motivation, teaching and learning. Our performing arts programs (music, drama, spoken word and dance) teach various ways of expression, history, and basic life skills. Our programs encourage leadership skills, literacy, grammar, physical movement and memorization techniques. All of these disciplines build stronger community.
