To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
About This Cause
Since 2000, the Boys & Girls Clubs of SW Washington have been providing a safe, positive environment for the young people who need us most. We’re one of the only agencies in Clark County to offer daily, affordable after-school and summer programs, with a special focus on underserved youth. Today nearly 2,900 members benefit from the caring adult guidance and rich variety of programs offered at our Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs provide a stable, enriching environment that fosters long-term school achievement, economic productivity, and responsible citizenship. Safety is our first priority, but our mission is about more than just keeping kids out of trouble. It’s about giving them something positive and constructive to do. Walk through our doors on any given day, and you’ll encounter a vibrant scene: youth of all ages, interests and abilities having “fun with a purpose.” You’ll find members sharpening their math skills as they prepare recipes in the Club kitchen or practicing conflict resolution at the foosball tables in the Game Room. In the Learning Center, members get help with homework along with academic enrichment. For youth who want to “plug in,” our technology lab offers classes in digital photography and robot building along with internet safety. We keep our membership fee as low as $60 per year so that every child can afford to belong. No child is turned away for inability to pay. In contrast, our annual cost to provide programs and services is about $1000 per member. Without our support, young people risk making negative choices that affect the quality of life for everyone. The more we do to help all youth reach their full potential, the greater the chances that they’ll lead productive lives and become a positive influence in their community and the larger world.
