About This Cause
Since 1999, the Highline Schools Foundation has been supporting innovation and excellence in the Highline Public Schools (HPS). HPS is one of the most diverse districts in the state of Washington. The district is comprised of four cities (Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Normandy Park) as well as an unincorporated area just south of Seattle (White Center). Over 63% of our students live in poverty; 27% are English Language Learners (Transitional Bilingual) and 77% are students of color. Our funding priorities focus on college and careers, basic student need (food, clothing, shoes, and school supplies), grants to teachers for engaging classroom projects, programs to improve academic achievement, the arts, and programs that keep students in school and productive. Our Foundation is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves the entire Highline School District.
