Mission Statement
Plymouth Healing Communities provides emergency and permanent housing and companionship to adults with mental illness who have experienced homelessness. Our homes are welcoming and attractive, and we build community with and around our residents.
About This Cause
For 20 years Plymouth Healing Communities has supported vulnerable adults with mental illness by providing small-scale attractive, affordable housing and personalized companionship. We believe, and data show, that healing can happen when vulnerable adults are shown care, respect, and love. PHC staff and volunteers create intentional communities of support for residents of PHC housing. PHC's "Companionship" model is particularly effective in combating the social isolation that can undermine quality of life and housing stability. By offering every resident the chance to connect with a volunteer companion, PHC supports residents in their healing and well-being. By hosting group outings and events for residents, PHC facilitates residents building their own networks of friends and acquaintances. All of these activities and connections enhance quality of life for residents and volunteers. Our work has been recognized and honored by United Way of King County, Harborview Medical Center, and Community Psychiatric Clinic.
