About This Cause
Salukis are thought to be the world's first domsticated dogs dating back 6000-8000 years with humans. Being ancestors of the greyhound and othe sighthound breeds, Salukis have special needs with regard to understanding the sensitivity of the breed as well as unique medical needs. at STOLA we strive not just to rescue and rehabilitate these very special dogs but to educate potential adopters to their unique character. To this end we have published an award winning training manual, "How to Raise and Train the Perfect Sighthound" and "Real Food for Real Dogs" both of which are sold as fundraisers for veterinary medical care. STOLA is an all volunteer nonprofit organization. We have no salaried employees so the lion's share of donations go directly to veterinary medical care for the dogs.
