Mission Statement

Welfare for Animals Guild (WAG) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to rescuing lost, neglected, injured, abandoned and surrendered dogs. WAG is staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers. No paid employees. All donations go to help the rescue dogs.

About This Cause

Prior to adoption all WAG dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and provided with appropriate medical care. All WAG dogs are currently cared for in foster homes, until a permanent home is found. Dogs with behaviorial issues are identified and addressed. WAG partnered with Clallam Bay Corrections Center in 2012 and developed the Offender Based DogTraining Program. The dog handlers receive training in basic and advanced obedience by a certified trainer. While they are teaching obedience, the handlers are evaluating each dog to identify its special characteristics, needs and using positive reinforcement training methods. This program provides a lot of wins for both the offenders and society, but the real winners are the dogs. In Fall 2016, WAG is opening its own facility, Half Way Home Ranch, to provide another chance at life for hundreds of rescue dogs. The Ranch, will continue to provide a home environment with plenty of love, attention and exercise until they are rehomed. With the combined help of our foster homes and the Ranch, WAG will be able to help many more dogs. WAG also work with rescue groups from high-kill shelters to save the dogs scheduled to be euthanized and bring them to safety with WAG. WAG's Mission Statement is to protect animals from neglect, abuse and exploitation; to advocate for their interests and welfare and to inspire awareness and compassion for the animals whose world we share.
