Mission Statement

Elizabeth Gregory Home (EGH) serves single women experiencing homelessness in the greater Seattle area by providing transitional housing, a Day Center and case management services. Elizabeth Gregory Home provides a welcoming and respectful refuge where women have access to compassionate care.

About This Cause

The mission of Elizabeth Gregory Home (EGH) is to provide a welcoming and respectful refuge where women (including transgender women) who experience homelessness, economic insecurity, and trauma have access to a caring community and critical resources. We partner with women as they move to stability through our warm referrals, our transitional housing program, and our Day Center – a central hub in North Seattle for community and access to essential needs. We empower women to transform their lives by supporting long-term self-sufficiency goals like improving health and wellness, acquiring permanent housing, and earning a sustainable income. Participants' needs are continually assessed so we can provide services and referrals that best match those needs, with the ultimate goal of finding affordable housing. Our goals are to: ● Provide a safe space for low-income, at-risk women over the age of 18 who are experiencing homelessness to receive support and access to basic services ● Educate and empower women to work towards independence by offering individual case management through our Care Team ● Support women in addressing health and wellness, employment and housing EGH supports women as they move to stability and self-sufficiency through day center and transitional housing programs. Our transitional housing program is a seven bedroom house located in North Seattle’s Maple Leaf neighborhood for eight single women at a time to live in a safe and supportive environment. Our home, which allows women to stay from a few months to two years, is an important step along the path to independence. It gives them time to heal from the physical and emotional exhaustion of living on the streets or in shelters, and provides access to supportive services to address trauma or mental health issues, and to continue their recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. During their stay, EGH staff members provide comprehensive care management, which includes working with residents on their self-identified life goals. Our transitional housing program provides women with the opportunity to become self-sufficient by finding work and attending school or job training programs. The residents live together as a household, sharing responsibilities and support for each other. Our Day Center program is a welcoming space for women to access services and referrals tailored for women living on the streets or in shelters. Instead of traveling to multiple service providers to meet essential needs, our clients have what they need in one location so they can focus on long-term goals of housing, health, and income. EGH is the only hub in North Seattle that addresses basic physical and safety needs exclusively for women. We build stability and community so that women can focus on the services offered by our partner providers that address their unique needs on their path to self-sufficiency. The Care Team services at our Day Center include: essential needs like hygiene, dental, and period supplies, clothing, mail service, showers, laundry, phones, and bus passes; assistance acquiring an ID, cell phone, health insurance, mental health and substance abuse counseling, and employment; basic first aid and visiting nursing triage, Medicaid enrollment, and visiting onsite dental van; nutritious hot meals or takeaway food; and referrals to partner providers for shelter and specialized services.
