SFDOG educates dog owners/guardians about responsible dog ownership/guardianship and advocates for off-leash recreational opportunities for people whose dogs are under control.
About This Cause
The San Francisco Dog Owners Group (SFDOG) is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1997, that promotes responsible dog ownership/guardianship and off-leash recreational opportunities for responsible dog owners/guardians and their canine companions. We have organized workshops on dog training and park "petitquette" (proper behavior in parks) and conducted programs to help non-dog people understand dog behavior to alleviate any fears or misconceptions they may have. We educate elected and appointed public officials about the benefits of dogs and of off-leash recreation. We are a source of information about dogs and off-leash recreation for local media. We have held social gatherings for dog owners/guardians and their dogs. We help the people of San Francisco and the Bay Area understand dogs and their place in our culture.
