Mission Statement
We foster environmental sustainability, youth development, and maritime careers through powerful shipboard programs aboard the schooner Adventuress on the waters of the Salish Sea. Adventuress is a working, century-old National Historic Landmark tall ship.
About This Cause
Sound Experience is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington State. Our education platform is the National Historic Landmark schooner Adventuress – one of only two NHL sailing ships still in active operation on the West Coast. Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower an inclusive community that works to improve our marine environment and celebrates our maritime heritage. Why should I donate? Your donation of any size supports our primary work serving children and teens from schools and youth groups in our region and those who are able to travel to Puget Sound. All youth programs are subsidized (it costs approximately 40 percent more to deliver shipboard programs than we are able to charge schools) and a number of schools from underserved communities request additional scholarship support. What am I supporting when I donate? Your gift to Sound Experience will be used to ensure that young people can continue to raise the sails, take the helm and learn how their daily actions make a difference for the future of our marine environment…and the world we share. Some young people will become inspired to consider marine-related and maritime careers, and all will experience the importance of stewardship. We think there are few better platforms for engagement than a historic tall ship. Your financial support will keep Adventuress sailing “not for one, but for all.”
