About This Cause

Fair Winds CEF was incorporated on 06 Oct 222, born out of the idea that every community deserves to have reasonable access to the arts, entertainment, and quality amenities. Additionally, parents shouldn’t have to drive 90 mins in traffic, one way, to provide their children science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STREAM) exposure because their immediate neighborhoods are void of any center offering a STREAM curriculum. Residents of a community should be able to enjoy their own neighborhood – to relax, be entertained, and to shop in well-maintained establishments. Programs and services include, but are not limited to: • Social and Recreational Program – quality of life activities such as dances, festivals, tournaments, community field day, etc. May include trips; recurring events; maintenance, care, or replacement of recreational equipment, sports leagues, etc. • Healthy Living Initiatives – supplement school breakfast and lunch programs with more nutritious options; establish a farmers market program in food deserts. May include fitness classes, medical resource fairs, agricultural gardening, etc. • Youth and Adult Programs – Adult programs include social and recreational clubs, as well as intramural sports; also includes workforce development. Youth programs feature various interests like archery, crafts, fashion, etc.; also includes educational initiatives. • Life-skills Program - geared towards persons aged 13 years and older and is broken into 4 curricula: Youth (13 to 17), Young Adult (18 to 25), Adult (26 to 39), Mature Adult (40+). Program incorporates project-based learning and comprises classroom-based lessons, social media, field trips, hands-on experiences, and group health therapy. • STREAM Education Program - scalable, project-based mobile program. STREAM events are conducted in coordination with schools. STREAM workshops are open to all community residents ages 5+. Program may include summer camp, after school programs, and a la carte learning opportunities. • Small Business Operations and Strategic Support Services - technical assistance supporting local small businesses to sustain and/or expand their operations and identify challenges. May involve helping to develop a business plan or financial strategy or find sources of funding, or providing guidance and assistance with operational issues such as marketing, accounting, technology, etc.
