About This Cause
The Alwan Foundation was formed in 2022 by Dr. Nas Mohamed, the very first LGBT person to publicly come out from Qatar. It is now run by LGBT voices from the Gulf Region in the Middle East. The foundation is the first in the world to focus on LGBT issues in that part of the world. The programing of the foundation includes direct support of asylum seekers at risk, contributing to research, community building as well as advocacy work.
