Mission Statement
Section 1. The purposes of the Eastwood Academy PTO are: a. To improve the student, teacher, and staff experience at Eastwood Academy High School (EAHS) and develop united efforts between educators and the general public that will promote excellence in education; b. To enhance and support the educational excellence at EAHS and foster the college-bound culture on campus and amongst families of EAHS; c. To promote parent college awareness and involvement in the areas of college application milestones, academic opportunities for students, and best practices for student success; d. To promote volunteerism throughout EAHS; and e. To provide a way for the community, parents/guardians and family members to support EAHS through fundraising for the benefit of students, teachers, and the school. Section 2. The Eastwood Academy PTO is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific, or literary purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding section of any further federal tax code. Section 3. The Eastwood Academy PTO may collaborate with other organizations and agencies that support and promote college education, but persons representing the Eastwood Academy PTO in such matters shall make no commitments that bind the organization.
About This Cause
Eastwood PTO helps support Eastwood Academy high school mission of empowering families and students to achieve college and career readiness and become globally-minded citizens. We also help support the vision, "Our passionate staff provides rigorous academic standards, personalized instruction, a supportive climate, and opportunities for leadership and personal development, guiding students to ultimately strive to make themselves more competitive in an ever-shrinking world. Eastwood Academy is an award-winning college preparatory charter high school just southeast of downtown Houston. We boast a diverse student body of approximately 400 students. All of Eastwood Academy’s students take a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum and complete 80 hours of community volunteer work prior to graduation. Our students enroll and complete dual credit courses. Eastwood is very proud to have a strong and competitive AP program. At Eastwood Academy, we know that an excellent education can give you the skills you need to succeed in both college and in your professional 21st century career. In addition to our nationally recognized college preparatory program, our students participate in field trips to universities, attend lectures given by community leaders, participate in relevant internships and have access to several full-time counselors to help guide them in all areas of academic life. We offer Pre-SAT, ACT and SAT college entrance exam courses that ensure our students achieve the scores they need to get into their chosen university. We equip all of our students with the skills, the experiences, and the intellect to develop into internationally-minded people who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of our Eastwood community, the East End community, and the planet.
