Mission Statement

Culture Flow Project (CFP), currently housed at PiYoDa Flow, is an inclusive non-competitive space for Dance-Culture-Community-Wellness in South Los Angeles, created by organizers with over 20+ years of experience in various pedagogical and cultural approaches. We are a community of movement-based artists and cultural educators devoted to creating space to inspire global dance engagement and innovative exploration. Our mission is to offer free and/or affordable Afro-diasporic and LatinX dance training in addition to Street and Social dances, Yoga, Pilates, performance opportunities, dance workshops/intensives/camps with established practitioners, and an arts-based pre-college mentorship. CFP strives to support and amplify the voices and work of street and social dancers who are often BIPOC or come from marginalized or minoritized experiences by providing affordable and sustainable dance training for youth and adults, support for artists to create dance theater work, and to access to studio space for emerging artists in the greater Los Angeles area. In LA’s cultural environment where dance outside of academia, especially for Hip-Hop and Street dancers, is primarily focused on creating work for the commercial industry, our space centers around keeping culture and dance practices alive and thriving by creating space for exciting and meaningful training and performances.
