Mission Statement
More than 8,000 children in Oregon are currently at-risk of growing up in foster care. In the foster care system, children bounce between foster homes and move schools frequently. As a result, children who grow up in foster care are likelier to drop out of high school, become homeless or be incarcerated. Boys & Girls Aid is focused on serving these children by connecting them with a forever family. The children we work with have experienced extreme abuse and neglect. We focus on their mental, physical and social well-being to help them heal while searching for an adoptive family. By connecting these children with families, they will have the support, stability and love to thrive.
About This Cause
Boys & Girls Aid has served more than 100,000 children since we were founded in 1885. We were the first child welfare agency in Oregon. Since we opened our doors, we have believed every child deserves a family. In a family, children have adults invested in their future. Children who grow up without a family of their own will have only a 50 percent chance of graduating high school and will be 63 times more likely to be incarcerated. We focus on the mental, physical and emotional well-being of children while they are in foster homes and ensure they are placed into a forever family that will continue to help them grow. A lifelong connection means one school, one home and one family. It’s a solution we believe will create a better future for all Oregonians.
