Mission Statement
Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) /Camp Howard is based on Christian principles that reinforce sound human and social values. It exists to provide opportunities for people of any race, nationality or religion to discover and be reassured of their self-worth as individuals and valuable members of society. It provides activities of a social, cultural and recreational nature. From this awareness, people will be encouraged to use their talents in service to others of their community.
About This Cause
CYO youth sports began in the Portland area in 1946. Camp Howard has been in existence since 1952. CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and Camp Howard are committed to the dignity and worth of all youth and focused on their development and value as individuals, helping to create future contributors and leaders of society. We provide sport and camp programs annually for 11,000 youth, ages 6 – 17 in the greater Portland/Southwest Washington area in which they participate, improve and excel while building character, confidence and concern for others that last a lifetime. Over our 70-year history, CYO/Camp Howard has made a positive impact on hundreds of thousands of individuals. We hear many stories of those who recount with joy their experiences as campers and/or athletes, including families whose participants have spanned multiple generations.
