Mission Statement

Creating a more humane society

About This Cause

Oregon Humane Society has been improving the lives of pets and people in our community since 1868. Since then, the organization has tripled in size with the addition of a campus in Salem and the opening of our new Animal Crimes Forensic Center, Community Veterinary Hospital, and Behavior and Rescue Center. Through our dedication to preventing animal cruelty and neglect, and by educating the next generation about kindness, compassion, and respect for all living things, OHS has built a national reputation for being effective, proactive, and tireless in our work for animals. Much more than an animal shelter, OHS offers a wide variety of community services and programs, all centered around the connection between pets and people. These programs include adoptions, training & behavior, humane law enforcement, veterinary care, humane education, disaster response, and emergency animal rescue. Because of supporters like you, we have been able to sustain our lifesaving work for over 150 years, and with your help, we hope to continue to provide these critical services to pets and people in need for many more years to come.
