Mission Statement
The Portland Youth Philharmonic is dedicated to education through great symphonic music. We train our musicians to high professional standards and serve the community through a series of public concerts and direct services to schools.
About This Cause
The Portland Youth Philharmonic's mission is to maintain the finest possible youth orchestras in order to inspire and educate young people through performing symphonic music and to provide a cultural asset for the community. Program objectives and goals under the artistic leadership of Conductor and Music Director David Hattner: 1. Provide world-class instrumental music training opportunities for the area's talented young musicians 2. Create access to great symphonic music for families, school groups and seniors throughout the region 3. Provide positive peer modeling to encourage more children to participate in school music 4. Serve as leaders in arts education and music education advocacy in the community
