Mission Statement
St. Mary's Academy is Oregon's oldest continuously-operating secondary school. A nationally recognized school of excellence, St. Mary's is an established Catholic all-girls college preparatory high school that readies students for the future. With over a 150-year tradition of educating young women, St. Mary's continues to serve a diverse school community and offer a challenging academic program which fosters the development of the whole person.
About This Cause
St. Mary’s Academy is an all-female Catholic high school and Oregon’s oldest, continuously operating secondary school. At St. Mary’s we focus on educating the whole person by developing our students academically, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Our students are scholars, athletes, musicians and young women of service and they come to our school from 35 urban, suburban and rural communities in Oregon and southwest Washington. As a result, the St. Mary’s community has great depth and diversity. St. Mary’s Academy exemplifies national studies that show graduates of all-female schools are more motivated to excel and have higher aspirations than their peers at co-educational schools. We are proud of the extraordinarily high rate of graduates who continue on to college; on average 99% of our students follow this path. The remaining 1% from the senior class of 2012 were accepted to college but are deferring their start by one year. St. Mary’s celebrates the achievements of the 152 young women comprising the Class of 2012, including earning $11.8 million in merit scholarships. The 2012 graduating class joins nearly 10,000 St. Mary’s Academy alumnae who demonstrate the impact of their education through their academic, professional and personal achievements. They are leaders in government, business and their communities, making a difference in our local, regional and global world. Pioneering girls education for 153 years, St. Mary’s Academy is the state’s leader in producing intellectually-prepared, service-oriented and spiritually-grounded young women who will become tomorrow’s leaders.
