Mission Statement
Responding to Christ’s message to love our neighbors as ourselves, Catholic Community Services of Lane County (CCS) is on the mission of Loving Thy Neighbor. We demonstrate this love by offering immediate help to anyone in need through food, rent, utility, and housing assistance, emergency shelter, and resettling refugees and immigrants in Lane County.
About This Cause
For more than 70 years, CCS has been providing crucial support to the poor and unhoused in Lane County. Our work assists thousands across Lane County who, for many reasons, struggle with securing necessities like food, clothing, rent, utilities and employment, and are often one paycheck away from becoming unhoused. Our case managers work with families to cross the barriers of unemployment and homelessness. Our Refugee & Immigrant Services Program (RISP) welcomes new arrivals into our community to ensure stable homes and futures. Every day, we provide essential items such as food, clothing, supplies, and case management to our neighbors in need. In fiscal year 2022-2023, we assisted 15,813 individuals who walked through the doors of our Community Service Centers. This includes distributing 33,816 food boxes (an 83% increase over the past three years), 125,790 articles of free clothing, 7,911 miscellaneous services such as ID replacement, birth certificates, bus passes, shower passes, snack bags, hygiene items, and providing $2.5 million in energy assistance. Additionally, we offered 11,229 case management services. Our goal is to instill hope by helping Lane County families take positive steps to move out of poverty and ultimately gain self-sufficiency, stability, and confidence.
