Mission Statement

NEDC protects and conserves the natural resources of the Pacific Northwest by enforcing environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, engaging with government agencies, and tracking federal and state actions in the region. NEDC serves as a watchdog of regulatory agencies and regulated entities and strives to identify and fill advocacy gaps that warrant attention.

About This Cause

NEDC was established by a group of professors, law students and attorney alumni at Lewis and Clark Law School in 1969. NEDC is an independent non-profit organization working to protect the environment and natural resources of the Pacific Northwest. For over 50 years the work of our law students, volunteer attorney's, citizen activists and clients have resulted in a cleaner and healthier environment. NEDC envisions a future in which the Pacific Northwest leads the nation in developing, implementing, and enforcing strong laws and regulations that protect the environment and human health and where our governments and communities value fostering and maintaining healthy and productive ecosystems. NEDC is committed to expanding our work and partnerships with communities disproporationetly impacted by environmental pollution.
