About This Cause
Willamette Vital Health, previously known as Willamette Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, a non-profit organization founded in 1978 and based in Salem, Oregon, provides comprehensive hospice care services, pain management, grief services, and support for those patients and families facing serious or life-limiting illness. Through its mission, Willamette Vital Care supports adults and children living with a serious or life-limiting illness throughout five counties around Salem, Oregon. Willamette Vital Care began with a group of dedicated volunteers who saw the unmet needs of terminally ill patients and their families in the Willamette Valley. Since that time, Willamette Valley Hospice & Palliative Care has grown from caring for nine patients to more than1,000 hospice patients each year. Community is important to us. We live and work in the communities we serve and are dedicated to providing services and community support to all. We believe hospice care should be available to everyone and we provide services to all, regardless of ability to pay. Our Grief Care services are available to community members, including 6- to 7-week support groups, weekly drop-in groups, summer day camp for grieving families and community events like Reflections on the River and Winter Remembrance. We also offer an adult foster home specifically for hospice patients who need a place to spend their final days.
