Mission Statement
To serve students who have been underserved and underestimated. We lead an educational community based on advocacy, equity, and academics. Our programs support students on their journey to break limiting beliefs, navigate systemic oppression, and build their life goals.
About This Cause
Both of our programs help students in grades 9-12 get on track to graduate and transition into post-secondary pathways. Open School East is an alternative high school in East Multnomah County that provides an identity-affirming school community, relationship-based advocacy, small class sizes, and academics tailored to each student. Step Up helps high school students make a smooth transition to and through their high school careers. Step Up keeps 350+ amazing kids in school and thriving academically at three Portland Public high schools: Roosevelt, McDaniel, and Franklin. We rely on generous community support, in addition to our partnerships with school districts, to provide these programs at no cost to students and families.
