Solar Oregon's mission is to be a bold voice and trusted educational resource to empower all individuals and communities statewide to adopt solar energy.
About This Cause
Solar Oregon was founded in 1979 as the Solar Energy Association of Oregon in response to the oil and nuclear energy crises of the late 1970’s. For over four decades, we have educated communities across the state about the benefits of solar energy and energy efficiency. Over this period our major programs have included How to Go Solar educational workshops, solar homes tours, advocacy, and solarize campaigns. Solar Oregon collaboratively developed solarize in 2009 to help a grassroots group of neighbors in southeast Portland go solar together more affordably, and solarize campaigns have since been replicated across Oregon and around the world.
