The Donate Life Northwest community saves lives and improves health through the promotion of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
About This Cause
Donate Life Northwest is a vibrant and collaborative community of deceased donor families carrying on loved ones' legacies; living donors sharing the joy of giving; grateful transplant recipients paying it forward; transplant candidates waiting with hope; caring donation and transplant professionals; and friends, family and colleagues - all working together to inform and inspire more organ, eye, and tissue donors. Because the need is so great, 20 Americans die every day while waiting for an organ transplant that never comes. The Donate Life Northwest community's innovative programs educate, encourage, and empower more people to say "yes" to donation and give hope to thousands of area kids and adults in need of transplant. Community Programs: High School Outreach Donate Life Northwest visits nearly 200 public and private high schools per year, and provides a comprehensive curriculum kit to teachers, so that students learn the facts about donation. Community Outreach Over 500 volunteers statewide support Donate Life by speaking in their faith or community groups about donation, organizing registration drives, fundraising, and sharing their story with local media. DMV Outreach "Do you want to register to be a donor?" Every resident of Oregon and Washington applying for a driver's permit, license, or state ID is asked this question by their local DMV employee. Donate Life Northwest staff educates DMV employees about the difference this simple question has made to thousands of individuals in need.
