Mission Statement

Bringing people together to make decent homes achievable for everyone in our community.

About This Cause

Benton Habitat for Humanity brings people together to make simple, decent homes achievable for everyone in our community. Habitat welcomes all people - regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference - to build and repair simple, decent, affordable houses for those who lack affordable shelter. We work locally in Benton County, Oregon, to select and support homeowners, to organize volunteers and to coordinate home building and repair. Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, their ability to repay a mortgage and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Habitat is able to make house affordable to low-income families because: - Individuals, corporations, and faith groups provide volunteer labor and vital financial support - Partner families must provide 200 hours of sweat equity to help build their homes. - Because much of the labor is donated, homeowners pay for the materials and contracted labor with a zero interest mortgage tailored to their income level. Since its founding in 1991, Benton Habitat for Humanity has built 39 homes in Benton County and repaired over 65.
