Mission Statement

The Community Cycling Center, founded in 1994, broadens access to bicycling and its benefits. Our vision is to build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected.

About This Cause

We recognize that the benefits of bicycling are not equally accessible, so we prioritize programs and projects that benefit underserved communities that enable kids to ride to school, adults to ride to work, and for lots of people to ride for health. To address these barriers to bicycling, we work collaboratively with community partners while building community capacity. In addition, we collect used bicycles and fix them up, sending them back out into our community via our programs and bike shop. Since 1994, we have helped over 14,000 children from low-income families and over 3,000 low-income adults gain access to the benefits of bicycling. By helping individuals build skills, knowledge, and confidence, we are achieving effective community-level work to reduce health disparities in diverse communities. To make our vision a reality, we are dedicated to building strong partnerships with community organizations, delivering outstanding hands-on programs to community members most in need, and inspiring champions to advocate for healthy transportation options in their neighborhoods.
