Mission Statement

CTS is a private non-profit Pre-K through 8th grades school entirely dedicated to the educational needs of children whose families are homeless or in transition throughout the greater Portland metro area. Our goal is to provide our students with a stable, supportive environment that promotes both their personal and academic growth.

About This Cause

For over 30 years, CTS has combined character education with a curriculum designed for children in grades Pre-K - 8 who have missed school because of their homelessness. We also provide transportation to and from school; two meals a day; school supplies; clothing and hygiene items; access to health care; and a highly qualified teaching staff with years of experience teaching at-risk children. During the 2021-22, we taught a total of 118 students. Average daily enrollment was 62 students. Average length of stay was 18 weeks. 82% of our students were students of color. Despite COVID and quarantining, our students had an incredible 87% daily attendance average. During the decade prior to the pandemic, our students daily attendance average was 91% (or above).
