Mission Statement

The Camp Rosenbaum fund is a community-building nonprofit whose mission is to provide life enhancing opportunities for low-income young people through mentoring, camp and athletic programs. Our programs are designed to instill good citizenship, hope, and a sense that anything is possible with education, hard work and good choices.

About This Cause

Since 1970, Camp Rosenbaum has offered a unique experience to low-income children from Oregon and SW Washington. For one week every summer, boys and girls, ages 9-11, make the trip to the Oregon coast where they ride horses, race pinewood derby cars, make new friends and discover powerful role models. Camp Rosenbaum is free to the families who send their children, and focuses on good citizenship skills and the hope and support for a bright future. We empower children to take responsibility for their lives, emphasize the importance of staying in school and making good choices, and most of all, remind each of our campers that they have the power to shape their future. All of this happens in the midst of non-stop fun and adventures, alongside staff and counselors who create a caring and safe environment. Perhaps most unique about Camp Rosenbaum, all of our staff are volunteers, comprised of an extraordinary partnership between the Oregon National Guard, Portland Police Bureau and Home Forward. Additional volunteers join us from other housing authorities, law enforcement agencies and fire bureaus, rounding out a staff of amazing inspiration for our campers.
