Mission Statement
One Ummah Foundation (OUF) is a non-profit public benefit charity dedicated to eliminating child labor by breaking the cycle of illiteracy and poverty in underdeveloped countries.
About This Cause
One Ummah Foundation was founded in loving memory of Mustafa Saeed Rahman who died tragically 6 days before his 12th birthday. The Rahman family endowed the One Ummah Foundation, whose name means: "One People", with the knowledge that the best way to honor Mustafa would be through the work of helping children worldwide. During the first five years, One Ummah Foundation focused on improving educational infrastructure, including constructing new schools, refurbishing existing schools and providing needed materials for both new and existing schools (e.g. books, uniforms, food). During the next two years, One Ummah Foundation expanded the types of projects it funds, including the following projects: •School refurbishment in Karachi, Pakistan; •Construction of technical and vocational schools in Jakarta, Indonesia; •Construction of three primary schools in Rathnikari, Cambodia; •Community disaster relief and education in Colombo, Sri Lanka; •Milk for widows and orphans in Bibile, Sri Lanka; •School materials and facilities for a public school in Tatum, Cameroon; •Supporting poor and needy students with their school fees in Hyderabad, India •Many health emergency projects both here in the USA and across the world Between 1999 and 2013, One Ummah Foundation made a direct impact on the lives of over 100,000 people, primarily children, in over a dozen countries. Since then, One Ummah Foundation has deepened the relationship with our trusted contacts who ensure that donor funds are used efficiently and exclusively for the projects for which they are designated. We will continue to fund projects which increase the availability of education using a holistic approach which recognizes the importance of community’s economic and social development in educational accessibility and fulfillment.
